Jewellery Care Guide
Silver Jewellery Care
Silver is a living metal that naturally develops a soft patina over time. Here’s how to keep it looking radiant:
• Wear it often – silver loves to be worn. Contact with your skin helps slow down tarnishing.
• Avoid chemicals – perfumes, lotions, hairspray, chlorine, and cleaning agents can dull the shine.
• Proper storage – keep your silver in an airtight pouch or a lined jewellery box to protect it from air and moisture. Store each piece separately to avoid scratches.
• Gentle cleaning – use a soft polishing cloth made for silver. For deeper cleaning, wash gently in mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse, and dry fully with a soft cloth.
Gold-Plated Jewellery Care
Gold plating offers the warmth of gold with a delicate finish, and it requires extra care:
• Handle with care – avoid rubbing or polishing too harshly, as this may wear away the plating.
• Last on, first off – put jewellery on after applying perfumes, creams, or hairspray, and remove it before sleeping, showering, or exercising.
• Safe storage – store separately in a soft pouch or cloth bag to prevent friction against other jewellery.
• Cleaning – gently wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh cleaners or silver/gold polishing cloths, as they may strip the plating.
